lost post from 4:30 AM

It went like this, but longer:

Casper likes to feed the cat.
Last week she ate some cat treats. Shrimp flavor. I found out when she asked for more.
She calls Ellen's cat "Wosie." This slays me. "Come ayer, Wosie!"
She talks a lot and sings.
She carries heavy stuff (like the big bag of cat food). She staggers 'cause it's heavy. So cute.
When she tries to do stuff she can't (open a stuck jar), she grunts and groans. She doesn't actually push on the item at all. Just noise. As if the noise will open the jar.

She cried from 3-4:30, on and off. mr flea was in there comforting her. I was out there listening. I think this will work, though.

"Wosie" is "Rosie"?

Mmmm, cat treats...</Homer>

As far as the grunting and groaning to open the jar, she's mimicking what she sees adults do. She can't really tell they are twisting the top extra hard. She just thinks they're saying magic words. Like my friend's 3 year-old son who, when his grandma gave him a little toddler's workbench for Christmas, picked up the little wooden hammer and started pounding fake nails into the bench while reciting the words he'd heard his daddy say under similar circumstances, i.e., "Fucker! Fucker! Fucker!"

Yeah, Rosie.

With the noise, I know she is copying us, but it is SO CUTE. And the fact that she doesn't even try to actually open whatever it is makes it that much cuter.

Squeaky doesn't have access to the cat food, but she does know how to climb into the dog crate and help herself. She was unpleased when she went in for thirds and I picked her up and tried 'sweeping' her mouth with my finger.

She actually goes to sleep pretty well now, and she rarely gets really upset when we put her into the crib for sleep -- it took about two weeks of me standing there, holding her blanket down so she couldn't get up, and talking with her and singing to her for up to three hours, but she finally finds her crib a peaceful, nonthreatening place. But in the middle of the night, she wants boob. I'm noticing if I send the husband in to see how she's doing, she'll settle for a hug and a snuggle and maybe one song from Daddy and then she's back to sleep. When summer vacation hits, I'm hoping we can convert her to all-night sleeping more regularly.

(Hi. Mind if I add you? Squeaky's 15 months; we're in Wisconsin.)

Sure. Casper is 20 months. We've struggled with sleep forever.
