scared

We're going to night wean Casper tonight. And tomorrow night, and Saturday night, probably. Everyone who's done it says 3 nights will do it if it can be done at all.

I am really sick with dread. I guess the fear is that I'm a bad person for doing this, as well as the (realistic) fear of how hard and horrible it will be with the crying misery and recriminations and the so forth.

Could we just fast-forward to Sunday, please?

You aren't a bad person. Not in any way.

Babies deserve mothers who aren't too exhausted to live.

Yep, what Jonquil said, and then some.

When I weaned LB (which I dreaded, because he was talking and I thought we'd ARGUE about it) it was SO much easier than I thought. A little crying, DH went in and snuggled him, and he never really asked again. All that worrying, for No Big Deal.

Good luck!

Good luck! And do let us know how it goes. We'll be doing it one of these days, too, I expect.

Do you know the book The No Cry Sleep Solution? By Elizabeth Pantley. I think it could have made our lives a lot easier if I'd found it when Casper was 4 months old. Of course, YKMV.

Maybe it's time to order it. It's been on my list since people started mentioning it a few months ago.

There's always checking into a motel and leaving Mr. Flea to cope....

...Perhaps it is for the best that I haven't reproduced.

No, actually, a lot of people do this, and mr. flea suggested it!

Good luck, and lots of strength to all of you.

Good luck. I hope it goes by quickly and with a minimum of tears (on all sides).

Oh good luck. I hope it's much easier than you're anticipating.

if it can be done at all.

OK, I don't know jack about weaning, but I can guarantee you it will be done at some point.

I think what flea means is if they manage to wean Eve on *their* schedule, as opposed to hers. Frances weaned herself off night feedings, for example, so I never had to deal with it.

I was generally just kidding.

[identity profile] burrell.livejournal.com 2005-02-11 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
oops. my bad.

Good luck. I don't think it will be as dreadful as you fear; at least, any lingering feelings of selfishness we had were quickly outweighed by relief at getting a whole night's sleep.
