My coworker and her husband were apparently killed in a dog attack; as they lived in a rural area and there were reports of problems with packs of stray dogs, that would seem to explain it. The saddest part is, they loved animals and adopted a zillion strays - we got an email this morning asking if anyone was interested in adopting or fostering some of their pets.

(Having once waded in with a broom handle when a woman was being attacked on my then-block by dogs, I can imagine it happening, too. Still one of the scariest things I've ever done.)

Holy mother of God! I know that people underestimate how dangerous pets can be when they go bad, especially a pack. I'm so terribly sorry.
