Workin' gal's blues

On one's first day back from vacation it is hardly fair to be summoned immediately into a meeting and be told you are spending 5 hours the following day on a site visit with a vendor. I was only gone 6 working days - surely they knew about the site visit before I left? Not that the committee had ever met, or scheduled any meetings, before I left. Getting fed up with last-minute halfassedness at work. Another important meeting tomorrow at 9am announced today midafternoon. Gah. Also, the new computer system is STILL not working on the back end. We have been on hold for ordering, acquisitioning, cataloging, and otherwise processing new materials, as well as making any changes to our existing materials, for 9 weeks now. School starts next week. Maybe there was too much optimism, hmm?

Ack, sympathies.

Is this a Dynix product by any chance? Our library "upgraded" (hollow laugh) last summer and there are still several catalogue issues to be worked out.

ExLibris. It's supposed to be wonderful - if we can ever get it to work. They say they're making progress - ordering is actually beginning to happen, and 2 vendors were paid yesterday. But they're still checking in serials on an excel spreadsheet, cataloging into CatMe, not into the Aleph system directly, and as for holdings maintenance, it's on hold.
