Happy International Women's Day!

This morning on the bus I ran into a faculty member I know who has an angsty 7:45 am meeting about the potential (not yet hired, but they want to) new named chair of her department, who is a brilliant scholar, but believes that women should not work outside the home. Ah, academia. Ah, progress, how slowly you come.

It would also be an excellent day for my friend's baby Squirmy to be born, especially if it's a girl. Because I would get to say, "It's a woman! A Baby Woman!" Hear that, babe? (Excited/impatient, me? Due date was only yesterday.)

Actually, Squirmy's official due date is today, though the due date from the ultrasound was yesterday. Today would be fine by me. Gettin' a little restless here...
