(no subject)

I seem to have a fair amount of bad news lately - and I post it here to pass along, because it's hard to bear in isolation.

One of my coworkers has stage 4 metastasized cancer. They can't even figure out where it started from. She's still at work, but will start chemo on Monday. The prognosis is not good at all, though. She's youngish - children are 14 and 19, and I'd bet she's under 50.

It's so hard.

How awful! I don't even know what else to say. Just, how awful.

(And sharing the burdens is one of the things the humans are good at. Don't feel bad about posting.)

Oh, flea, how horrible. My heart goes out to your coworker and her kids.

Life can be wretched. Hugs for you and -ma for her.

That is so sad. I am so sorry

I'm so sorry. That poor woman -- cancer is always a terrible gutpunch, but to not get the diagnosis until you're at stage 4, I can't even imagine. And poor all of you who know her. Punctuation and ~ma to all of you.

Oh how tragic. I'm so sorry for her and her family, and for you, knowing them.

Oh, how awful. My thoughts are with them.

What a shock for everyone who knows her. I hope the prognosis improves somehow.

That must be very frightening. I hope they manage to get the cancer under control, and at least give her more time.

There are some really promising developments coming out of cancer research, but most of them are several years away from being available, unfortunately, if they pan out at all.
