Oh, joy.

I am pretty sure I have a plugged duct. I know exactly how it happened, too: Sunday night I accidentally nursed the Dillo on the same side twice in a row, and woke up from sleeping on my stomach with a rock hard breast. Now we have all the symptoms.

I made it through two and a half years of nursing Casper with no plugged ducts, no mastitis, and noi thrush, so I suppose I was due.

Ow.

Ouch is right. I got one last time: it went away within 24 hours with the recommended home treatment (heating pad, massage, and short but very frequent nursing on that side). I don't know if frequent pumping will do the trick as well -- the suction doesn't seem as efficient.

Well, I'm at work now, and don't have time or a place to pump every 2 hours, but I am having a hot bath and baby time as soon as I get home, you betcha.

I'm so sorry and ouch! I hope it goes away quickly and with no complications.

Shit.

Standing in a VERY HOT SHOWER often helped me.

Ditto. If you're not worried about wasting milk, you can even express in there.

Yup. Press on the blocked duct and watch the milk hit the shower wall!
