baby names

Encountered in the park last night:
Evan Mae, a girl, 3 weeks old. Her adorable golden retriever companions were Izzy and Booker.

Grandson of coworker:
Philip Andrew.

Still no progress on our front.

In other news, I have just deal with emails about "JVWF implementation" and every single time read it as "WWJD implementation."

In other other news, very busy at work and rather stressy about getting things done before the armadillo. Also, I am such a bad manager of others - I am hating training my student, who is clever enough but slow and methodical. I want to just push him aside and say "I'm in a hurry - let ME do this. You go, um, rearrange some books or something." But that would not be productive (or appropriate).

Have you checked out Social Security's name website? Very fun info about the frequency of different first names over time. Our choice for the boy child landed in between "Maximilian" and "Gonzalo" last year, so not very darn common (an important criterion for us).

I'm addicted to the damned site! It made me consider Cornelius (but then what do you call him, Nellie?)

Also great fun is the Baby Name Wizard (which uses the same data, but makes it graphical) at http://babynamewizard.com/namevoyager/lnv0105.html

Cornelius McGillicuddy's nickname was Connie Mack. I've also seen "Corny."

I also know baby girls named Ryan and Elliot. (As well as Avery, Rowan, Wilder, and other more neutral names). Of course, Evelyn used to be a man's name...

I agree. Evan Mae is a terrible name.
