Julia Quinn, Whe He Was Wicked. She's a newish regency historical writer. I like her buildup a lot and am always disappointed in her payoff, and this was no exception. She's got a decent command of the english language (this is rarer than it should be) and is verbally playful, much more so than most romance writers. For me, she's a library author - I wouldn't buy a book of hers. I was about to give up on her after her last - To Sir Philip With Love - which was pretty bad and silly, and which I didn't finish. This was fun, but I skimmed the last 1/3, when the tension turns into resolution.
