Followup to 4-day visit from 17-year-old half-sister:

me: "She's nice, and it was great to have her here, but - I really just don't get her. At all."
mr. flea: "She's much more normal than you are."

And then I realized he's exactly right, and he's more normal than me too, which is why he can talk to her, and veejane is like me, not with the normal, but our brother can code-switch and it's so freaky!

My normal is not normal people's normal. But I like it that way.

New worry, though - will Casper be normal-fleakin, or normal-worldnormal? Let's hope for a code-switcher, I guess.

Ha ha ha! I remember thinking, "This is exactly like what a teenager is on television! How sad, to deriev your life from television example. The deprogramming must begin immediately."

In her defense, she did admit to needing deprogramming; but the amount of deprogramming she needs is overwhelming and I doubt we will ever free her entirely from the shackles of Britney-think. Getting her out of Ohio is Step #1.

I think Brother is not actually a code-switcher so much as he is able to be so completely blank in a conversation that everyone may project onto him whatever they wish to think. That is more like mirroring than code-switching, and says to me that he is actually less flexible than you think.
