Yeah, they have lived in Lewiston, ME and Cincinnati, OH. They want a "non-conservative" college town to retire in, but I think they are more socially conservative than Asheville is. I was pretty surprised by it - it felt sort of like a bigger Antioch OH, not like Durham or Athens, which are both liberal towns (for their region), but not that liberal.
