I totally - and against my usual inclination - got suuuucked into this one. I usually read this sort of books in a detached fashion, and it's very rare for me to get caught up and swept along. I don't know what got me - something in the book (the whole first half is very intimate and takes place over 2 days with basically 2 characters) or something in my circumstances. In retrospect, there were a lot of holes - his falling for her made little sense to me, the whole convolution and final wrap-up of the plot were silly - but that first half sure was a rush.
