NO I MEAN A REAL PIANO. I troll Craigslist for them often, especially spinet pianos, although elaborate and hilarious Victorian uprights are also okay. No, I will never buy one I swear.

I have a coworker whose father was a jazz musician who, when he died in Miami, shipped the family grand piano (a white on) back to Massachusetts. Knowing that it did not fit in her apartment at the time. (Husband: Guess we should move! That is why they are married.) It was almost the only thing she got from her parents' estate -- squabbles with a crazy sister -- and cost more to ship than it was worth. AND they moved to find a place big enough for it!

Their son is 7 now and beginning lessons. She likes to say that, by golly, someday he will spend more than it is worth to move it to his house, and that is how he will know it is a family heirloom.
